Northumberland Plate and Ladies Day are Newcastle Racecourse’s largest race fixtures and indeed two of our largest events. We have worked with Newcastle Racecourse for 7 years now and are looking forward to continuing our contract.

Obstacles:

Excessive crowd numbers compared to normal race meetings

Requirements for marquee village  

Demand for flexible hospitality options on key race days

Demand for toilet provision where there are no permanent facilities

Solutions:

Provide temporary hospitality structures including marquees with large shared restaurants, marquees with private chalets and completely private stand alone marquees

We provide wet weather cover to the Champagne Lawn, Sponsors Lawn and also provide cover for entrances and ticket sales

Provide operational support throughout the build and pack down, as well as during both the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate and Ladies Day

Design, plan and implement infrastructure and resources to create  marquee village, incorporating 3 hospitality marquees, entrances, a bar, a band stand, boundary fencing and laying 3000m2 of astro grass, amongst providing all furniture, generators and distribution

Provide temporary toilet facilities throughout site, working alongside another toilet provider to supply around 30 toilet units

Facilitate and provide all furniture requirements, utilising our sister company Yorkshire Furniture Events 

Throughout their racing season, we are proud to work closely with York Racecourse to provide them with a wide range of services and solutions including marquee hire, luxury toilet hire, furniture hire, generator hire and wet weather cover hire.

Erect temporary hospitality structures with options for large shared restaurant marquees and private individual hospitality chalets 

We provide wet weather cover to high traffic areas to enhance customer experience and increase profitability 

Carry out proactive, preventative maintenance and upkeep of York Racecourse' own temporary facilities

Incorporate standby cover to increase operational support on key race days throughout the year 

Create bespoke solutions to ad hoc facilities, e.g. designed and fitted a temporary structure on the third floor balcony as a wind shield

For many years we have worked closely with Bishop Burton College to provide various structures and facilities, including marquee hire, luxury toilet hire, furniture hire. 

Obstacles:

Needing an extension to the Conference Centre for various functions 

Provide cover for competition scoreboards

Create temporary structures for exhibitions, retailers, judges, dining facilities 

Transform current facilities into something different 

Solutions:

Erect a structure which joined to the permanent building, allowing access from one to the other with ease. This creates an additional space for which to extend the current event space, or utilise different sections in different ways

Utilise wet weather cover to ensure the scoreboard is visible, yet protected from the elements

Combining traditional pegging and weighting to marquee hire structures to work with numerous locations and ground type for structures with a varying size

Working with sponsors and the Equine Department, it is often necessary to dress or disguise permanent facilities, for which we create individual solutions to create a bespoke appearance 

We work with Acorn Scaffolding and Lunchbox Productions to build York Designer Outlets ice skating rink and facilities, as part of their spectacular winter wonderland. 

Obstacles:

Create a decked floor, on uneven ground, resulting in a perfectly level platform on which to build an ice rink

Provide a marquee hire structure on top of this platform to allow skaters access to and from the ice rink

Provide an additional marquee which provides a viewing facility

Equipment for the Winter Wonderland is located off site at a storage facility 

Solutions

Working in partnership with Acorn Scaffolding and their unrivalled, innovative system, a level platform was constructed on which to build the ice rink and anchor our marquee hire structures

Marquees were constructed at either edge of the ice rink; one served as a skate marquee from which to hire skates and provide changing facilities and also housed doorways to allow access straight onto the ice. The other marquee was a cafe/bar with a solid glass wall to allow skate viewing, part of our Ultimate Small Marquee Series enhancements
